I respectfully write to you following recent news reports regarding a 48-hour deadline attributed to your administration—reports that have caused me, and many others, profound concern and distress.
Allow me to briefly share my personal background. I have endured years of imprisonment and severe hardship under oppressive authorities, and for over 25 years I have lived outside of Iran against my will. My experiences have given me a deep understanding of both the suffering of the Iranian people and the complexities of the current situation.
While I, like many others, hope for accountability for those responsible for injustice and oppression, I am deeply troubled by any prospect of actions that could inflict widespread harm on the nation as a whole. The people of Iran—nearly 90 million individuals—are themselves among the primary victims of these circumstances and should not be conflated with those in power
